What Gives Me Hope

We live in challenging times. There are too many people suffering. There are too many who feel abandoned. Our earth trembles with storms and fires.

But, look around. Go beyond the headlines and listen to the stories of people helping others. They surround us. We need to celebrate our goodness. Despair is not an option. Rather, each of us must acknowledge with our whole beings the interconnectedness that will get us through whatever this journey presents to us.

Last night, I attended via Zoom a meeting of my seminary class of 2016 to celebrate ten years as interfaith/interspiritual mnisters. I was awed by how each of my classmates is answering their call. They are all making a difference in the world. They are ministering to the lonely, the sick, the opporessed. Ther stories touched me deeply.

So, yes, I have hope. Our world has within it the potential to face any challenge. We can not only survive, but thrive. Amen.
