Buddhism and Football

I was watching a Bills football game last Sunday and sadly watched the amazing James Cook fumble. I commented to my friend, "He was not staying in the moment." By thinking ahead to a touchdown, he lost his focus on the moment where he needed to keep hs hands tightly on the ball. The ball slipped out.

There are more similarities between Buddhist living and playing football that you would think. Consider the expression, "in the zone." Isn't this similar to mindfulness? Both mean that one is focused on what one is doing in any given moment. One needs to be very mindful when attempting to recieve a pass hurtling toward you!

So, if you watch football or any kind of sports, consider how the teachings of Buddhism can be helpful.
